Raw Chocolate & Raspberry Candy
refined sugar and dairy free!
Add to food processor:
10 oz sugar-free raspberry preserve (I use St. Dalfour)
5 pitted dates
5 pitted prunes
(soak dates and prunes ahead of time if they are very dry)
1 tsp vanilla extract
Puree.
Add:
1/2 cup Raw Cacao Powder (see this video on why raw hemp seeds & cacao powder rock)
1/4 cup raw Hemp Seeds
2 tbsp Maca Powder, or your favorite protein powder
Puree.
Add:
2 cups unsweetened shredded coconut
Puree.
Form into balls with your hands and roll in more shredded coconut.
Flatten slightly.
Dehydrate at 125 degrees for about 4 hours.
They will firm up as they cool.

Zoe says, “These are even better than the kind of candy people buy!” She was literally bouncing up and down as she ate one, she was so excited =)
stephanie @ glutenfreebynature says
OOOH yum! I thought last years candy was good. I think you’ve topped that!
These look dee-licious. I have such a soft spot for raspberry anything. I can’t wait to be able to have chocolate again. Until then, I will count the days with visions of these in my head.
Have a great day!
ps – so envious of your outing the Boulder Farmers Market yesterday. I am going to have to find a suitable alternative here. And soon!

Happy Easter! I also made some raw chocolate (actually carob) candies for Easter that I am going to blog about soon. But I am going to try these little guys.

I’m with Zoe on this one…YUM!! Raspberry is one of those great flavors that pairs so well with many, many things.
BTW – I sent you an e-mail to tell you that GAHIGF is up for March but it came back undeliverable. Your submission is fabulous!!

Oh I have been so into raw treats like these as of late. These look awesome. I still haven’t tried maca, but am becoming very curious.

Sounds really great Kelly. I’m going to make some for my grandson.. I love your recipes, but some products I don’t do because in addition to being Vegan/Vegetarian, I eat according to my blood type as well. Coconut is not on the list though I used to love it. Guess I’ll wait and see how my grandson likes it. He is 21 months old now, and a doll!

ooh and will be so good as a between lectures snack!
Thanks Kelly!

I’ve got mine in the food dehydrator.. having to wing it as my dehydrator is from 1999 and doesn’t have temp settings.. will have to watch the texture and consistency to evaluate when they are done.. Smells amazing Kelly.. Thanks so much!

I made up a batch of these yesterday and they have been a wonderful success. In fact, I’m afraid they will be all gone by tomorrow!
Kelly says
Lisa, Yay! I’m so happy you made them! I know, aren’t they awesome?! =)
Adrienne says
Kelly,
What do you think about the potentially adrenal activity of maca? I haven’t used it yet, but would like to. I have heard that it can act as a stimulant of sorts and I have been working hard to eliminate these. Thanks!
Kelly says
Adrienne, I hadn’t heard about that. That is a concern. This is probably the only recipe I ever use it in though, so I have very little experience with it.
Jacki says
These look amazingly delicious! I’ll definitely be making these for our Easter celebration! Thanks, Kelly!

Can you use hemp powder we don’t get hemp seeds in south africa
Kelly says
I think hemp powder would work fine, or another seed too, but I’m not completely sure since I haven’t don that myself.
