This weekend we took a short trip down to Colorado Springs. Wow. To say it is beautiful there is a major understatement. Above is one of the great photos I got from Garden of the Gods. To see more, Click Here, to go to my family blog 😀
In Manitou Springs we went to Coquette Creperie, where all of the crepes are gluten-free. It was very exciting.
I had a crepe with raspberries and blueberries, and Andy had a crepe with chicken curry (below). The girls shared a sandwich on gluten-free bread. Everything was awesome.

A friend of mine told me we also had to go to The Olive Branch while we were in town. You can imagine our surprise when they brought orange cake (above) over to the table after we sat down. “Thanks, but we can’t eat gluten.” Andy said to stop them from putting it down. “It’s gluten-free.” they said. What? Shock. Well, it did contain dairy though, so only Andy and I could sneak a few bites (with about 10 enzymes!), but it was divine. Not too sweet, which we prefer.
We had to order fresh hot doughnuts. The girls had never had a doughnut before, and Andy and I haven’t had one in many years. They were gluten and dairy free. And amazing.

It’s also worth mentioning that both Coquette Creperie and The Olive Branch were in really cool buildings. So charming. We came home feeling very spoiled, gluten-free style 😀

The food looks delicious and the views nourishing, too. Did you happen to ask for that crepe recipe?

That doughnut looks amazing and unbelievable to me! I tried making gluten-free, dairy-free doughnuts, and it was a total bust – resulting in a really gross and oily mess. I wonder how they did it!

Wow! The next time we’re up that way (next spring since the snow is starting to fly between here and there), we’re going to have to stop there! We’re down in the Albuquerque area. Great reviews!

Oh my that dougnut hole looks so delicious! I’ve only found one bakery near me that sales gluten-free doughnuts, but they’re just like cakes with holes in the middle.

Next here in our beautiful city, try Adams Mountain Cafe in Manitou Springs, but don’t be turned off by the long wait, they’ve become very popular since moving to their new location. Known for “slow cooking” they also have gluten free items available.

Do the dougbnuts have eggs in them?
