Someone following the Paleo Diet might see the title of Sarah new book and think, “How could all that Italian bread and pasta be made Paleo?” The truth is: authentic Italian cooking isn’t as focused on wheat as many Americans believe. Italian culture really values ingredients like seafood, olives, garlic, tomatoes, and mushrooms, just to name a few.
Part travel memoir, Everyday Paleo Around the World: Italian Cuisine describes the month-long journey Sarah and her family took across Italy. They toured the countryside and cities, meeting farmers, chefs, and families along the way. The great food they ate inspired Sarah to translate their favorite dishes into Paleo. Her cookbook presents a range of Italian cooking, from meat and vegetables, to desserts, (and yes) even some saucy pasta and pizza recipes.
I had the pleasure of talking with Sarah when Ginger and I took a spontaneous trip to PaleoFX. I mean it sincerely when I say that Sarah is one of the most lovely people I have ever met. Sarah brings that love to her books, and the two recipes I’ve made from Italian Cuisine have been delicious. At the top you can see Sarah’s Panna Cotta, made with coconut milk, followed by (White) Sweet Potato Souffle. Both recipes were easy to make and tasted amazing.
