On the pier in Avila Beach, CA. |
The beginning of our road trip / book tour has been amazing. In Grover Beach we stayed with friends who we had never met face-to-face. They were some of the most loving people I have ever met, and I’m so blessed to have them in my life.
Slumbering sea lion at Avila Beach, CA. |
We went to see the sea lions at Avila Beach. We were this close! That’s not zoomed in! And my sweet Ashley, who sometimes has trouble with stairs, went down to see this big beautiful guy! I was so happy for her that she was able to do that 🙂
Signing books at Beacon Chiropractic, Grover Beach. |
I was a little nervous when I saw the size of the pretty conference room at Beacon Chiropractic (above). And the size of the buffet table (below). Gulp. But quickly the room filled and the pot-luck table was covered in yummy Paleo food. My friends made a whole bunch of my recipes, as well as their own, and it was so good.
Pot luck at my Grover Beach signing. |
I was incredibly touched. I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, more loving start to our book tour 🙂
My name up in lights at the Capitola Book Café. |
But we couldn’t stay long, because the next night we had a book signing at Capitola Book Cafe. We drove up to Santa Cruz and stayed with the super-sweet, incredibly talented Arsy of Rubies and Radishes, the author of The Paleo Slow Cooker.
Ginger wanted to be a part of my talk at the Capitola Book Café. |
There was so much love in Capitola. Talking to everyone there made me so happy.
Me and Ginger at Pleasure Point, Capitola, CA. |
Today we got to spend more time with Arsy and her precious baby, who is 15 months. On a walk at Pleasure Point she snapped this candid photo of Ginger running into my arms. I love it so much I want to hang it on the wall 🙂

On Monday I’ll be in San Francisco at Green Apple Books at 7pm. I hope to see you there! We’ll be giving away free screen-printed totes and free Paleo treats from Well Foods and Kur Organics!

Oh, we’re sorry we missed you in Santa Cruz at the Capitola book cafe (that is a short bike ride from our house!). It was also the day before my older daughter’s sixth birthday, so we were a little distracted! 🙂 Good to hear you had a nice time here though!

Nice pictures! Your hair looks great Kelly. I love you talking with the people with Ginger on your hip! That’s awesome! You’re a working momma, and you’re real and approachable. Best wishes for the rest of your road trip!
