There is something that I’ve been doing lately that has been blowing my mind. Hear it is. Ready? I’ve been making other peoples recipes. Well, okay, that’s not the part that’s been blowing my mind. What’s blowing my mind is how much faster and easier it is to follow a recipe, as opposed to creating one. Like, for example, when I got my review copy of The Paleo Kitchen I wasted no time diving into these muffins, which are actually the Cinnamon Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread recipe on page 81. George and Juli suggest making this batter in your food processor. That coupled with the simplicity of the recipe and ingredients, and the fact that I wasn’t experimenting (aka “recipe developing” for fancy talk), and they were made in no time. And they were SO GOOD. The kids loved them, and so did I.
I couldn’t stop there though. Next I whipped some Lemon Raspberry Swirl Muffins from page 89. Lately, the kids have decided not to eat anything unless it contains chocolate (I’m only half kidding), so Andy and I got to eat these by ourselves, which meant we had leftovers. And leftovers = more free time for me. What did I do with that extra time? Probably laundry or dishes. But maybe I also got to sit on our new patio swing for a few minutes longer. And that’s a good thing.
Next on my list to make is The Perfect Burger, or at least just the Shoestring Parsnip Fries that go on top. I really want to eat those. And the Sundried Tomato Sweet Potato hash, because I LOVE sundried tomatoes. And the Afternoon Pick-Me-Up (Coffee Smoothie), because… hello, the name speaks for itself 🙂
Seriously though, I really want to make everything in this book, and at this rate, that will be soon. You’ve gotta get yourself a copy.

Sounds like a great book. I need to make a few muffins and things for a roadtrip we are going on this weekend and I’m going to go and get this book and give these a try!

I just now ate a muffin made with the Cinnamon Swirl Chocolate Banana bread recipe. SO delicious!!! I can’t wait to get my copy of the cook book. I pre-ordered it on Amazon so I assume it will arrive any day now!!

I wonder why sometimes Amazon has the books ARRIVE on the day they come out and other times we have to wait? I was SO ready for this to arrive today and now I have to wait two more days. Any insight? 🙂

I think amazon keeps all their stuff pretty secret. But it might depend on when the publisher supplies the books to them.

I think it is so great that you use the cookbooks of others and then review it here! I really would hate buying something that I might never use, but a thumbs up from someone I “know” makes all the difference!

What I’d really like to know is are the recipes things that a normal person would make when they are running home from work, looking for something healthy to make before running off to take kids to sports’ practices? Are the recipes quick and easy? Are they economical? (I know not all recipes will fall into these categories but will the majority of them?) I have NO DOUBT they will be delicious b/c I have both of Juli’s and George’s previous cookbooks already. I value your opinion – what do you (and your readers) think? THANKS!

I haven’t seen the cookbook but someone posted this cinnamon swirl banana bread, and I can testify that it is delicious, easy, and a recipe I’ve already made twice in 2 weeks! Main ingredients are bananas, 1/2 c coconut flour, 1/2 c almond butter, and everything else are pantry staples. I don’t normally buy cookbooks but I’m tempted to get this one based on this recipe and other bloggers’ reviews!

So excited to get my own copy of this soon! Now I’m even more convinced that it will be worth the wait…lemon raspberry swirl muffins sound right up my alley right now. And parsnip fries? Fugeddaboutit.

Thanks
Kelly says
