When I was pregnant with Ginger I planned on NOT having a stroller. I planned on babywearing, as I did with all my babies. Now that Ginger is going to be 5 in August, it was time for her first stroller. Although we will definitely keep using THIS for Disneyland and other crowded places. But there are a couple playgrounds in walking distance from our house (and you know how obsessed I am with hiking and walking!), hence the desire for a stroller, because inevitably Ginger gets too tired to walk/bike/scooter about halfway there 🙂
Jogger to the rescue! I am borrowing this Bob jogger, which has been in storage, and needed some TLC.
Luckily my amazing friend, Hayley told me about a great grease-removing DIY natural remedy. It’s just 3 ingredients and I’ve used it to successfully remove RED WINE, and grease of all kinds (fat is my homie). So I figured it would probably work on these very old stroller stains, and it did!!
I whipped up a big batch of this stain remover, and Ginger asked to paint it on the stains herself. Make sure it’s laid on really thick where the stains are, then let it dry for at LEAST 24 hours. A couple of TINY stains remained on the jogger, and I think it just wasn’t a heavy enough coating on those areas.
For this stroller I used the strongest hose nozzle setting and held it at close range, probably 6 inches away. After all of the stain remover was hosed off I left it to dry, and voila! Looks brand new again! 🙂
I hope this remedy works as well for you as it has for me! xoxo ♥, Kelly
DIY Natural Stain Remover
Equal parts: starch (I’ve used cornstarch and arrowroot), salt (I’ve used my good stuff and the cheapest stuff, both work), and biodegradable dish soap
- Combine only as much as you need to be used right away. For clothing (small stains) I use a teaspoon of each (starch, salt, dish soap). For this big job I used 1/4 cup each (so I got the cheap stuff).
- Apply the stain remover as soon as it’s combined and allow it to dry.
- Leave the stain remover on for at LEAST 24 hours.
- For clothing, wash as you normally would in the machine. For this stroller I used the strongest setting on my hose nozzle, at close range.
- Bye bye stains!

I keep spilling tea on my shirts 😛 and I wonder if this would work to remove the stains as I have not yet found something that removes them. Can’t wait to try this!

For tea, coffee, or chocolate stains, wash item in cold water without soap. Then wash again as normal. If you use soap for the first washing the stain will NEVER come out.
