I have a theory on one reason why people hate to cook: CLEANUP
AmIright?!
So here is how to clean a large stainless steel pan easily!
If the pan is cold, turn the heat back on.
Splatter water on the pan. When it sizzles, it’s time to pour in water.
In a 12 inch pan like this one you need about half a cup of water. For smaller pans use less.
The water will sizzle, so use caution.
It’s working!
Lift the pan (use a glove if necessary) and swirl the water around.
Next take a spatula and scrape the pan. It will come up easily.
Easy-peasy.
While it’s still hot, take the pan to the sink.
Pour out the liquids, add some fresh hot water and scrub.
The remaining buildup will come off easily.
Voila!
Some of the more seasoned cooks (see what I did there? 🙂 ) may recognize this technique, which is called deglazing. You can also deglaze a pan with stock, wine, or coconut aminos to make a yummy sauce!
Next time in this series I’m going to share how to cook eggs so that they don’t stick, so stay tuned!
Happy easy cleanup and Happy Thanksgiving!
