This Halloween party was almost as much fun as shopping and decorating for it. 😉 I had some decorations saved from Zoe’s last Halloween party, but Andrew and I went to the dollar store on our coffee and errands date last weekend for a few additional things. I keep the Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Easter decorations in a big rubbermaid, like I’m sure you do. They don’t have to be fancy or expensive, I save them anyway, like this skeleton window decal (and another one with a black background that is on the inside of the downstairs bathroom door), the glittery cardboard bats (hanging from the patio lights), black artificial roses, and more.
Definitely my favorite addition this year were these glass bottles filled halfway with very small decorative white rocks (meant for potted plants) with battery operated white votive candles! I loved the height and the sparkle that they added to the table. The green glass bottles, battery operated white votives, and batteries were all from the dollar store. I got the tiny rocks at Lowe’s.
Another tip I have is to reinforce the streamers, if you might have any wind (we always do here). We did this by wrapping clear packaging tape around the last 5 inches or so of the streamers. Then put your thumbtack or staple through the taped ends. I learned this the hard way when all my streamers ripped down shortly before the party yesterday. Oops 🙂 We had them reinforced and back up for the party though. 🙂
The cobwebs and spiders are another one of my favorites. The cobwebs look all perfect when you take them out, like a really cheap scarf. After you hang them you just pinch and pull and stretch them out to make them look like cobwebs. It’s so fun to do! I used them in the corner of the patio (accentuating the hanging succulents), as a table runner, and up the banister in the foyer.
Here is Zoe and one of her besties before everyone arrived. All the kids were so cute! I was so impressed with all the costumes 🙂 I think we had 30 teenagers here! We borrowed a friends projector and played The Adams Family, Disney animated Halloween shorts (Mickey and Donald), and the Thriller music video, projected onto the playhouse doors. Zoe is Jackie form That’s 70’s Show. We ordered her wig (which is the nicest wig I’ve ever bought), and found this 70’s dress and jewelry at Savers.
Happy Halloween!
