UPDATED ROOM BELOW 🙂
Hi! I hope you’re having a nice relaxing weekend!
When we first moved in to our house we didn’t have very much furniture. The house came with blinds that didn’t match within the same room. Meaning in a single room there were multiple styles and colors of blinds. The blinds in the bedroom bay window also didn’t open and close properly. But the bedroom had great character: an interesting shape, interesting ceilings, nice windows, recessed lighting, fresh paint. It was so much fun putting the room together!
Because of earthquakes in California, we don’t hang anything heavy or glass over the beds. This old canvas oil painting that I found is surprisingly light, and I adore desert landscapes. I’ve had this headboard and bench forever, and I’ve recovered them each a few times. The headboard cover is just a quilt that’s wrapped around the headboard, so I can take it off and wash it. This is my favorite bedding that we’ve ever had. I love the way it looks, and I love the zipper on the duvet. The oversized knit throw blanket and pillow compliment the bedding perfectly. The wall-mounted lights are some that I’ve had for years, used in different rooms, but the cages over the Edison bulbs are new, from Home Depot.
One of the biggest challenges in this bedroom was the sunlight. The bedroom faces east, so the sun is really bright and intense early in the morning, waking me up. I found the perfect solution with these gorgeous navy room darkening curtains and this awesome rod for the bay window. With the addition of a mid-century plant and stand, and cozy macrame swing with faux fur and a pillow, it’s everyones favorite place to sit and read in the house!
The fact that it took half an afternoon and 3 holes in the ceiling to find the wood to hang the swing is another story 😉 I’m currently reading The Glass Sentence series, and I’m on the last book of the trilogy. I almost don’t want to read it, because I don’t want it to end! We did the summer reading program at our library, and I waited until the last day to get our goody bags, not realizing that all the good coupons were all already given out, like for Chipotle and Burger Lounge. Boo! Next summer you can bet I’ll be one of the first to get those coupons! #momlife

Anything I didn’t link to was purchased in a store, not on Amazon.
All the walls in my house are Dunn Edwards, Silver Polish. The house was painted inside and out before we bought it, and I couldn’t have picked a better color myself!

Since my original before and after post we have updated the bedroom. It now has Studio Hawthorne Oak laminate floors and THIS Kiyoko Vintage Floral Rug.
